Gwen Choke is the deceased mother of James Adams (previously James Choke) and Lauren Adams (previously Lauren Onions).

History[]

Gwen was a thief and when she became pregnant, became a criminal mastermind by hiring other people to steal items for her. In her later years she took James and Lauren to the mall so they could tell her what they wanted her to steal for their Christmas. When she was about 24 she gave birth to James, with James Duncan, who was 17. About two years later she got together with a man called Ron Onions, and had a daughter, Lauren. James insisted to his mother that Ron was an idiot and she kicked him out, only after she'd married him and given birth to his daughter, Lauren.

Personality[]

Gwen can be considered to be somewhat lazy: though she ran a shoplifting empire, she never stole anything herself and instead relied on her criminal employees to do it for her. In addition, when James saw her and Ron drunk, she actively refused to cook dinner for him and Lauren. She was also somewhat easily-swayed since she was reluctant to divorce Ron, and was quick to let him back into her home - which ultimately led to her demise.

Despite this, it is evident that she loved her children deeply and genuinely tried to be a good mother to them. For example, she would often see to it that they had mountains of presents for Christmas and birthdays, and always spent plenty of time with them. Because of this, James remembers her with nothing but deep affection and clear love for her.

The Recruit[]

On October 8, 2003, the day James injures Samantha Jennings, Ron comes over, bringing a bottle of wine, which they drink together; something she isn't allowed to do because of painkillers prescribed to her after an operation. Ron comes over every few weeks asking for money, using Lauren as an excuse, which doesn't make sense; because he usually comes over when she is at school. James tries to tell her about the incident at school, but she is a bit drunk and dismisses him. That night, when James wakes up and finds out that he has internal bleeding, due to Greg Jennings beating him up, he finds her dead. The mixture of alcohol and painkillers put her into a deep sleep and caused her to have a heart attack, which killed her. James thinks that Ron brought the alcohol around so that he could deliberately kill her.
